About Medialink
Practical media tools should be clear about what they do, what they store and where their limits are. That is the idea behind Medialink.
What we build
Medialink is a collection of browser-based utilities for compressing, converting and preparing media. You can reduce a video for messaging, convert a file into a more useful format, extract audio from your own recording, or retrieve media from a supported public source when you are authorised to do so.
The service is designed for short jobs, not permanent storage. Every input and output has a limited lifetime and is deleted automatically.
The principles behind the service
- No account is required for ordinary tools
- Uploaded and processed files are temporary
- Private, authenticated and technically protected sources are off limits
- A public link does not replace the rights holder's permission
- Limits and failures are explained instead of hidden
How the tools work
Processing happens on our server so the same workflow works on a phone, tablet or computer. Files are validated before conversion, processed with established media software, and returned through a short-lived private download link. Read the full technical overview on How It Works.
Funding and independence
The core tools are free. We intend to fund hosting and processing costs through clearly labelled advertising. Advertising does not change which links work, the order of results, or the privacy rules described above.
