Frequently asked questions
Short answers about how the service handles your files, what it limits, and what it deliberately will not do.
Using the service
- Do I need an account?
- No. There is no registration, no email and no login. Paste a link or upload a file and you are done.
- Is it free?
- Yes, entirely. Running costs are covered by advertising on the site. There is no paid tier and no feature held back behind one.
- Does it work on a phone?
- Yes. The site is built mobile-first, so the whole flow works in a mobile browser with nothing to install.
- How long does processing take?
- Usually a few seconds. A short clip that needs no conversion is nearly instant; a large video being compressed takes longer, and progress is shown while it runs.
Files and privacy
- Do you store my files?
- No. Your source file is deleted as soon as processing finishes, and the finished file is deleted when its download link expires — normally 15 to 30 minutes later. A cleanup process runs continuously to remove anything left behind by a failed or abandoned job.
- Can anyone else reach my download link?
- The link is signed, unguessable and tied to your specific file, and it stops working when it expires. Treat it as private while it is live: anyone you forward it to could use it during that window.
- Do you log my IP address?
- Not in full. We store a one-way hash of it, which lets us enforce rate limits and investigate abuse without keeping a record of who visited.
- Do you keep the links I paste?
- Only while the job is running, and encrypted. Afterwards we retain the domain and a hash, which is enough to act on abuse reports without keeping a browsable list of what people downloaded.
Limits
- What is the maximum file size?
- 250 MB for both uploads and links. Videos are also capped at 20 minutes.
- How many downloads can I do?
- Five per hour and fifteen per day, with up to three running at once. These limits keep the service fast and cheap to run for everyone.
- Why did I get a “too many requests” message?
- You reached the hourly or daily limit, or already have three jobs in progress. Wait for one to finish, or try again a little later.
What we will not do
- Can I download from a private account?
- No. Anything requiring a login to view is out of reach by design. We never sign in to a platform, never import browser cookies and never use someone's session.
- Can you remove watermarks?
- No. A watermark identifies who made the work. Stripping it misrepresents the source, so we do not offer it.
- Why is my platform not supported?
- Most large platforms offer no lawful way to retrieve arbitrary public media. Rather than defeating their protections, we mark those sources unavailable and explain the specific reason on each page.
- Can I download anything I find online?
- No. You may only download media you own, have permission to use, or are otherwise legally authorised to download. You confirm this each time, and it is your responsibility.
