Terms of service

These terms cover your use of Medialink. Using the service means you accept them.

Last updated 27 August 2026

What the service is

Medialink is a free tool that processes media temporarily: it can retrieve a file from a public link you supply, convert or compress a file you upload, and hand the result back to you on a short-lived link. It is provided as-is, with no uptime guarantee and no warranty.

Your responsibilities

Every time you use the service you confirm that you own the media, have permission from the rights holder, or are otherwise legally authorised to download and process it. That judgement is yours, and you are responsible for it.

You must not use the service to:

  • Infringe copyright or any other intellectual property right
  • Access private, restricted or password-protected content
  • Circumvent any technical protection, paywall or authentication
  • Process material that is illegal to possess or distribute
  • Process intimate images of anyone without their consent
  • Overload this service or any third-party server
  • Resell, automate or scrape the service without written permission

The acceptable use policy sets this out in full and forms part of these terms.

Limits we apply

We enforce file size, duration and request limits to keep the service available and affordable. These limits may change without notice. We may also disable support for a particular source at any time, including where continuing would be legally or technically unsound.

No storage, no recovery

Files are deleted automatically and cannot be recovered once their link expires. This is intentional. Do not treat the service as storage or backup, and download your file before the expiry shown on screen.

Availability

The service may be unavailable at any time for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We do not guarantee that any particular file, format or source will process successfully.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the service, including lost files, lost time, or any consequence of media you chose to process. Because the service is free and holds nothing of yours, our total liability is limited accordingly.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Suspension

We may block access where we reasonably believe the service is being abused, where a valid legal complaint has been received, or where use threatens the stability of the platform.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The date at the top reflects the current version, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
