Acceptable use policy

What the service may be used for, what it may not, and the things we have deliberately chosen not to build.

Last updated 3 August 2026

Permitted use

You may use this service to process media where you:

  • Own the media, or created it yourself
  • Have permission from the rights holder
  • Are working with material published under a licence that allows it, such as Creative Commons
  • Are working with material in the public domain
  • Are otherwise legally authorised to download and process it

Prohibited use

You must not use this service to:

  • Infringe copyright or any other intellectual property right
  • Access private accounts, private messages or restricted content
  • Circumvent authentication, paywalls, subscriptions or DRM
  • Download content obtained through a compromised account
  • Process child sexual abuse material
  • Process non-consensual intimate imagery
  • Process material that is illegal to possess or distribute in your jurisdiction
  • Harass, defame or endanger anyone
  • Attack, overload or probe our systems or any third-party service
  • Automate, scrape or resell the service without written permission
  • Misrepresent a creator's work, including by removing attribution

Capabilities we do not build

These are not features awaiting development. They are deliberate omissions, and requests for them will be declined:

  • Signing in to any platform, or importing browser cookies or session tokens
  • Bypassing DRM or any technical protection measure
  • Downloading from private accounts, private groups or protected posts
  • Removing watermarks or other attribution
  • Rotating proxies to defeat a platform's rate limits or blocks
  • Retrieving private Snapchat or WhatsApp messages

Where a platform cannot be supported without one of these, we mark it unavailable and explain why on its page rather than quietly crossing the line. See supported sites.

Fair use of capacity

Rate limits, size caps and duration caps exist so the service stays fast and cheap for everyone. Do not attempt to work around them with multiple addresses or automated clients. Doing so risks a block.

Enforcement

We may block links, domains or addresses that breach this policy, and may disable an entire source where abuse is persistent. Serious matters may be referred to the appropriate authorities.

To report a breach, use the report form.
